Jus Rhyme was born and raised in Minnesota
and currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
Middlebrook is a Ph.D. student at the University of Southern
California in the Program in American Studies & Ethnicity,
with a focus in Hip-Hop Studies.
From
2000-2003, Jus coordinated over 20 community events in the
Minneapolis metro area with the Hip-Hop Co-op, and is responsible
for helping to raise almost $20,000 for youth programming
and community development. Since 2003, Jus has worked as a
"rap"tivist- facilitating anti-racist, Hip-Hop workshops
and performances around the U.S. for the rap groups, E.B.T.B.
and AR-15. Jus is featured in the film “Mirrors of Privilege:
Making Whiteness Visible” (World Trust, 2006).
Jus has a Bachelor's Degree in Ethnic Studies from the
University of Minnesota, a Masters Degree in American Studies & Ethnicity from the University of Southern California, and is a graduate of AmeriCorps*National
Civilian Community Corps, the People's Institute "Undoing
Racism" workshop, and the Challenging White Supremacy
"Workshop as a Lab". His favorite Hip-Hop group
is dead prez.
